Road running is the cornerstone of most runners' training and racing schedules. During the course of a season our runners will train for and compete in all types of race, ranging from free to enter, timed runs such as parkrun, right up to the holy grail of many a runner: the full marathon.
Road results are recorded for all distances eligible for the club championships; parkrun, 5k, 5m, 10k, 10m, half marathon and marathon. In the club championship a runner's two fastest times at each distance are used to calculate an aggregate time for each distance, except for the marathon where the single fastest time counts towards the championship. The championship is broken down by age group with the runners age at the start of the season, the 1st April, setting the age category for the whole season.
The age groups for men are; MOpen - under 40 years of age M40 - 40 to 44 years M45 - 45 to 49 years etc.
The age groups for women are; FOpen - under 35 years of age F35 - 35 to 39 years F40 - 40 to 44 years etc.
The results for the current season, and latest club records, are given above. You can see the results for all runners results recorded on the forum. Where no category is shown the runner is currently not registered. There are prizes for winner and runner up at each distance in each age group.

As well as the numerous parkrun timed runs that take place across the region, other local races that our members participate in include the Mystery 5k series, Christleton 5k, Sale Sizzler series and Halewood 5k

5 Mile RacesDone a few 5k races? Looking to build up to a 10k, but struggling to strike a balance between speed and endurance? A 5 mile race might be the answer. There aren't an awful lot of them around these days, however we are lucky to have a few superb races on our doorstep including the Walton Park 5 miler, the Sefton Park 5 miler, the Chester Spring 5 and the Birkenhead 5 miler.

10k Races10k races are enormously popular, and with good reason. On one hand, running 6.2 miles demands your respect and attention, but on the other, it isn't so far that you can't train for it—and run several 10ks—in one season. It's one step beyond the 5K and a great way to build up to the half or full marathon distance. Click here for some tips on preparing for and then racing a 10k. Some of our favourite local races are (of course) the Penny Lane Striders 10k, the Sefton Park Spring 10k, the Port Sunlight 10k and the Mersey Tunnel 10k
