Not all of our runners choose to race, but many do and gain great enjoyment from it. Racing as a club member allows you to compete as part of a team and experience events in a whole new way. There is always a great buzz amongst members on race day, which is the perfect way to ease any nerves you may have!
We compete in three main types of event. Road running is our bread and butter and takes place across a variety of distances, ranging from short, 5k blasts right up to marathons and- for the particularly unhinged element of our membership - even further than that. You will also find our runners participating in some of the many fantastic, completely free parkrun timed runs that are held each Saturday morning at venues across the country.
All of our latest parkrun results can be found here, whilst those who enjoy poring over running statistics should pay a visit to our page on Power of 10 for a comprehensive list of results from this and previous seasons.
For a more earthy running experience, cross country championships take place throughout the winter months and are a fantastic way to get the competitive juices flowing. Forget about times or PBs: with cross country you are running as part of a team and aiming to finish ahead of as many people as possible.
Off-road races occur throughout the year and take in some of the most scenic locations across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire, North Wales and beyond.
Last, but certainly not least, is the annual Penny Lane Striders 10k race hosted by the club itself. Renowned for its enthusiastic marshalling, it has long been a stand-out fixture on the Northern running calendar and is one of the best value 10k races you will find anywhere.
