The current Multi-terrain series came to a climax at the Roddlesworth Roller on Sunday. First home on the day was Simone Capponi closely followed by Andy Keeley. Jane Eardley was first home for the women and it was good to see Jane Hallows back racing after a long lay-off with injury.
The results of the competition were only settled on the day and it was close. 250 pts Lawrence Eccles - Men's Champion 246 pts Neil Bullock - Men's Runner up (after taking the 6th race into account as a decider) 246 pts Simone Capponi 240 pts Andy Keeley - Men's Vet winner 236 pts Tony Man - Men's Vet runner up For the women 250 pts Cristina Puccini - Women's Champion 246 pts Gill Darby - Women's Runner up 236 pts Jane Eardley Well done to the prize winners and everyone who competed during the year. See the full results in the Results section. Finally the race list for the 2015-16 season has been given the seal of approval and can be found on the Multi-terrain page. The fixture list this year has been revised with input from both new and long standing off-road runners. We have tried to keep the races close to Liverpool and once again got a range of distances from 17m (Sandstone Trail A Race) and 13.1m North Wales Half Marathon to shorter events such as Harrock Hill Race 5m. Another busy weekend of action saw Penny Lane Striders at the Wrexham Half Marathon, the Roddlesworth Roller multi-terrain race, and 10k events in Trafford and St Helens.
In Wrexham, first home for the club (and following an 18:14 5k at Halewood the previous day) was Lawrence Eccles, with strong performances from Cristina Puccini (1st V45-49) and Terry Long (3rd V60-64). Six Striders took part at Roddlesworth, with Simone Capponi first Strider home in 24th place. Meanwhile at Trafford, Andrew Leslie's strong start to 2015 continued with another PB and first ever sub-40 minute 10k. Also shaving a chunk of his previous PB was Jerome Doyle (41:32). Finally, on a hilly St Helens course Jay Clarke came home in 8th place (37:16), whilst Sharon Samson won her category with a time of 41:32. Well done to all who ran this weekend!
